SIOUX CITY – Paul Cox has been named women’s soccer coach at Briar Cliff University.
Cox comes to Briar Cliff following a short stint as the director of coaching for the Blair Football Club while he previously served as an assistant coach with Midland’s men’s and women’s teams.
“We are very excited to have Paul Cox take over leadership of our Women’s Soccer program,” remarked Briar Cliff Athletic Director Nic Nelson. “Coach Cox is a bright, young coach with a lot of passion. He will develop a positive culture in our women’s soccer program, and he’ll be a very successful recruiter.”
Briar Cliff fashioned a 10-8-1 overall record in 2017 and were 4-5-1 in the GPAC before falling to Midland in the tournament quarterfinals.
“I feel like this is a great program with a great deal of potential and with people who care dearly about it. With my experience of the GPAC and the NAIA I have developed a good understanding of what it takes to be successful in this conference,” stated Cox. “I believe with the returning players and the addition of the players we are going to bring in, we have the capabilities to elevate this program to new heights. I cannot wait to get started on campus and getting preparations ready for the 2018 season. I want to thank Midland for giving me the opportunity to work in a number of capacities. I also want to thank Nic Nelson and the search committee for selecting me to be the person to lead this program.”
Cox will be the seventh head coach in the history of the Charger women’s soccer program.
