GULF SHORES, Ala. | Northwestern’s Will Norris finished fourth in the men’s 10,000 with a time of 31:27.57 on the opening day of the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field Championships here Thursday.

Norris, a senior from Spirit Lake, Iowa, earned All-American honors with the effort.

Northwestern’s Tim Rose qualified for the finals in the men’s 1,500 with a preliminary time of 3:53.10 and placed 12th.

The Morningside men’s 4x800 team of Kyle Hiser, Alec DeVries, Drew Schiltz and Jacob Green placed sixth in the preliminaries with a time of 7:37.00.

The Dordt men’s 4x800 team of Caleb Drake, Josiah Eckels, Nick Vander Kooi and Sam Wensink finished seventh with a time of 7:37.17.

The Dordt women’s 4x800 team of Kelsey Lewis, Jenna Wilgenburg, Erica De Schiffart and Justine Van Zee finished fifth in the preliminaries with a time of 9:07.31. The 4x100 team of Miranda Velgersdyk, Joscelyn Wind, Pam Regenerus and Danielle Wubben finished eighth in the preliminaries with a time of 47.29.

The Morningside women’s 4x800 team of Cassie Warner, Tiffany Shepherd, Michelle Mumm and Payton Boer finished seventh in the preliminaries with a time of 9:09.94.

The second day of the three-day event starts Friday at 10:00 a.m.
