ORANGE CITY, Iowa – Great Plains Athletic Conference baseball regular season and tournament champion Northwestern College has been assigned to the five-team Upland Bracket in the 2018 NAIA National Championship Opening Round.

The unranked Red Raiders (30-18) will be the No. 5 seed in the bracket hosted by Taylor University in Upland, Indiana.

They are joined by top seed and seventh-ranked Oklahoma Wesleyan, No. 2 seed and 24th-ranked Freed-Hardman (Tenn.), No. 3 seed Cumberland (Tenn.) and host Taylor.

Northwestern plays No. 4 seed Taylor in the first game on Monday at 11 a.m. The winner of the four-day double elimination tournament will earn a spot in the NAIA Baseball World Series in Lewiston, Idaho.

Northwestern is making its fourth appearance in the opening round, compiling a 4-6 mark in its previous trips in 2010, 2013 and 2014.
