BISMARCK, N.D. | Sioux City improved to 3-0 on the season with a 30-16 win over Bismarck in Champions Indoor Football League game Friday.
Taylor Genuser, Jeff Mack and Frederick Bruno each scored a rushing touchdowns and the Bandits got three field goals from Greg Conry to hold off the improved Bucks.
Sioux City already owns a 77-37 win over Bismarck at home on March 4 but had to hold on for the win in this one.
The Bandits held a 17-3 lead in the second quarter after a short TD run by Genuser, but the Bucks got the next two touchdowns, scoring on a 15-yard run by Elvie Pope and a blocked field goal return by Michael Thompson.
The Bandits clung to a 17-16 lead after the extra points following Thompson's score failed and Conry hit a pair of field goals to increase the lead to 23-16.
Bruno got a big insurance score with 1:40 left on a seven-yard run, his seventh TD of the season, to make it 30-16 Sioux City.
Jermichael Williams picked off a pass with 48 seconds to end any further Bismarck scoring threats and Sioux City was able to run out the clock.
The Bandits host the Kansas City Phantoms next Saturday at the Tyson Events Center.
