INDIANOLA, Iowa | Simpson quarterback Sam Sasso passed for 319 yards and five touchdowns as he paced the Storm to a 49-21 Iowa Conference football win over Buena Vista at Buxton Stadium Saturday.
Sasso, a senior from Chandler, Arizona, now has 20 TD passes this season and 2,220 yards as he has led the Storm to a 5-4 record overall and 4-3 in the IIAC.
Jackson Redmond hauled in 10 passes for 147 and two touchdowns for Simpson while Ricky Reeve had 115 yards and one touchdown.
Buena Vista matched an early Simpson touchdown with one of its own on an 8-yard run by quarterback Cole Miller to tie the score at 7-7. The Beavers only other score of the first half came on a 26-yard pass from Miller to Eric Pacheco, but in the meantime the Storm scored four touchdowns to have control 35-14 at the break.
Miller added a 13-yard run for a touchdown in the third quarter for Buena Vista (3-5 overall, 2-4 IIAC). Miller passed for 201 yards on 16-31 passing but was intercepted twice.
Buena Vista plays its home finale next week when it hosts Wartburg.
