LINCOLN | Northwestern shot the lowest team score of the entire field in the Blue River Classic at Wilderness Ridge here Wednesday, vaulting to a second-place finish behind Iowa Western Community College.

The Red Raiders fired a 282 after carding 313 in Tuesday’s first round, finishing at 595. Iowa Western won with a 583 total while Morningside would up third at 600.

Austin Reitz and Justin Kraft each shot 70 for Northwestern while Isaac Knock and Evan Schuler each had a 71.

Iowa Western’s Joel Durnford and Albert Nilsson finished first and second individually, Durnford totaling 71-71—142 while Nilsson shot a blistering 66 in the second round and closed with 77-66—143.

Corey Matthey of Morningside was third with a 74-70—144. The Mustangs posted team totals of 310 and 290, five shots ahead of fourth-place Doane.

Dordt was fifth with 322-291—613 and Briar Cliff 11th at 324-308—632.
