AKRON, Iowa | Brooke Koele scored 14 points and Jaden Harris tossed in 12 as the Akron-Westfield girls basketball team improved to 7-3 with a 58-37 win over Gehlen Catholic in a War Eagle Conference game on Tuesday in Akron.
Sydney Livermore finished with 10 points for Gehlen Catholic (7-3).
WOODBURY CENTRAL 80, STORM LAKE ST. MARY’S 26: Woodbury Central charged out to a 30-6 first quarter lead and enjoyed a 45-11 halftime advantage while posting an 80-26 victory over Storm Lake St. Mary’s in a non-conference girls basketball game on Tuesday.
Sophomore Maddie Paulsen scored a career-high 28 points to lead the Wildcats. Junior classmate Sally Gallagher and Sidney Steffen added 14 and nine points respectively as Woodbury Central improved to 7-3 on the season.
Junior Lizzie Lenhart and senior Olivia Schaller scored 13 and seven points, respectively, to pace the Panthers, who fell to 3-7 on the season.
CROFTON 48, PONCA 30: Lacey Sprakel scored 16 points as the third-ranked (C2) Crofton girls basketball team improved to 9-2 with a 48-30 win over Ponca on Tuesday in Ponca.
MCCOOK CENTRAL/MONTROSE 61, BERESFORD 36: Morgan Koepsell and Natalie Gottlob scored 22 and 20 points, respectively, to lead the Fighting Cougars to a win over the Watchdogs in a girls basketball game played in Beresford, South Dakota Tuesday.
Jacy Pulse also scored 10 for MCM (4-0). Jillian Hansen had 11 points for Beresford (1-4).
