HARTLEY, Iowa | Akron-Westfield got 14 points from Brooke Koele, 13 from Danika Smith and 12 from Jaden Harris to down Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn 59-44 here Friday night.

HMS, who was led by Olivia Japenga's 18 points, had a 3-point attempt that missed at the buzzer. Erin Streit added 10.

The Westerners are now 13-4 and have won six straight while HMS is now 7-9.

SOUTH O’BRIEN 62, GEHLEN CATHOLIC 49: Hannah Dau finished with 15 points, nine assists and six steals in a South O’Brien win over Gehlen Catholic in a War Eagle Conference game on Friday.

Taryn Hintz recorded a double-double for South O’Brien (12-5) with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Megan Waterman scored 13 points and Kaylee Jacobs added 10.

Katelyn Jacobs had 15 points for Gehlen Catholic (11-6) and Addison Weber finished with 10.

MOC-FLOYD VALLEY 58, SHELDON 27: Zoe Heemstra scored 15 points and Jazlin De Haan tossed in 10 as the MOC-Floyd Valley girls basketball team improved to 8-10 with a 58-27 win over Sheldon in a Siouxland Conference game on Friday in Orange City.

McKenzie Wagner led Sheldon (3-14) with nine points.

HINTON 38, H-LP 36: Bryce Klein scored 18 points and made the game-winning shot as Hinton defeated Harris-Lake Park 38-36 in a War Eagle Conference game on Friday in Lake Park.

Blake Gunderson finished with 14 points for HLP (6-12).

Taylor Meyer hit a 3-pointer for HLP to tie the game at 36-all with 30 seconds left. After a Hinton (6-11) missed shot, HLP got the rebound with a chance to take the lead, but Hinton’s Aspen Coffee had a steal and assisted Klein on a game-winning layup with one second left.

NEWELL-FONDA 68, SOUTH CENTRAL CALHOUN 49: Olivia Larsen scored 27 points to lead the No. 4 Mustangs (Class 1A) to a win over the No. 12 (Class 3A) Titans in a Twin Lakes Conference girls basketball game played in Lake City, Iowa Friday.

Megan Morenz also added a 12-point game for Newell-Fonda (17-0 overall, 9-0 TLC). Maddi Jones had 14 points and Emma McKinney 12 for SCC (16-2 overall, 8-2 TLC).

WEST SIOUX 47, MMCRU 29: Abbie Ericson scored 14 points and Emma Mace tossed in 11 as the No. 11 (2A) West Sioux girls basketball team improved to 16-2 with a 47-29 win over MMCRU in a War Eagle Conference game on Friday in Remsen.

Haley Schwarz finished with 11 points for MMCRU (7-10).

OKOBOJI 57, ROCK VALLEY 56: Magan Christopherson scored 15 points, the final one was a free throw with the game tied at 56 in Friday's Siouxland Conference contest in Milford.

Camry Jones had 12 points and 10 rebounds and Kallyn Stumbo 12 points and six assists for Okoboji.

Rock Valley, who used a 22-6 run to take a 55-53 lead, was led by Taylor Richter with 14 points. The Rockets missed three attempts in the final moments that would have won the game.

DENISON-SCHLESWIG 36, ST. ALBERT 25: Alex Mohr scored nine points as ninth-ranked Denison-Schleswig won a low-scoring Hawkeye 10 Conference contest on Friday.

Bailey White led St. Albert with 11 points.

ELK POINT-JEFFERSON 61, TRI-VALLEY 39: Kalla Bertram scored 18 points as Elk Point-Jefferson registered a Dakota XII Conference win over Tri-Valley on Friday.

Elsie Aslesen had 15 points while Kenna Curry and Addison Ludwig chipped in 10 apiece for the Huskies (6-7).

Mia Miller led Tri-Valley with 13 points.
