AKRON, Iowa -- Brynn Van Eldik and Brooke Koele scored 13 points each as Akron-Westfield downed Hinton 53-29 in a War Eagle Conference contest Friday.

Jaden Harris added 10 points for the Westerners, who have won seven of eight to move to 10-4.

El'Lee Kroll led Hinton with eight points.

KINGSLEY-PIERSON 60, WOODBURY CENTRAL 51: Bri Jensen scored 17 points and added four steals as the sixth-ranked (1A) Kingsley-Pierson girls basketball team defeated Woodbury Central 60-51 in a Western Valley Conference game on Friday in Moville.

Madison Goodwin recorded a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds for Kingsley-Pierson. Addison Hirschman had 14 points and nine rebounds.

Sally Gallagher finished with 16 points and five steals for Woodbury Central. Sidney Steffen scored eight points and grabbed 10 rebounds while Payge Ronfeldt also had eight points.

Woodbury Central was without starting center, Maddie Paulsen, who suffered a sprained ankle in practice on Wednesday.

Kingsley-Pierson started fast charging out to a 24-12 lead after the opening eight minutes. The Wildcats closed the gap to 40-34 midway through the third quarter, but Jensen made a 25-footer to end the third quarter giving the visitors a 44-36 advantage.

For Kingsley-Pierson, the victory moves the Panthers to 12-2 overall, 6-1 in Western Valley Conference action. Woodbury Central falls to 9-4 overall, 6-2 in league play.

Woodbury Central travels to East high on Saturday night while Kingsley-Pierson hosts River Valley on Tuesday.

GEHLEN CATHOLIC 45, REMSEN ST. MARY’S 32: Addison Weber and Katelyn Langel both scored 14 points as the Gehlen Catholic girls basketball team improved to 9-4 with a 45-32 win over Remsen St. Mary’s in a War Eagle Conference game on Friday in Le Mars.

Sydney Schorg finished with 18 points for St. Mary’s (0-13).

GTRA 54, POCAHONTAS 27: Toni Alesch scored 17 points as Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire posted a Twin Lakes Conference win over Pocahontas.

Madison Hough added 12 and Madison Norris 11 for GTRA.

Jill Vonnahme led Pocahontas with 13 points and six rebounds.

NEWELL-FONDA 81, WEST BEND-MALLARD 42: Olivia Larsen scored 21 points as fourth-ranked (1A) Newell-Fonda downed West Bend-Mallard in a Twin Lakes Conference contest on Friday.

Emma Stewart tallied 17 points and Ella Larsen added 12 for the Mustangs, now 13-0.

HMS 38, TRINITY CHRISTIAN 17: Hannah Jochims scored nine points as Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn (7-6) downed Trinity Christian in a War Eagle Conference contest on Friday in Hartley.

Alyssa Uittenbogaard led Trinity Christian with nine points.

SOUTH O'BRIEN 49, MMCRU 26: Hannah Dau, a 5-3 freshman and the War Eagle Conference leading scorer, hit for 19 points Friday during South O'Brien league win over MMCRU.

Megan Waterman tallied 12 points and 15 rebounds while Taryn Hintz had nine points and nine rebounds for the Wolverines (9-4).

WESTWOOD 66, RIVER VALLEY 23: Carah Drees scored 19 points and grabbed 14 rebounds to lead the Rebels to a Western Valley Conference girls basketball win over the Wolverines in Sloan, Iowa Friday.

Andee Martin also scored 17 for Westwood (10-4). Brittany Meyer scored eight points for River Valley (0-14).

SIOUXLAND CHRISTIAN 50, MVAOCOU 36: Daisy Hiserote, a freshman, scored 20 points in Siouxland Christian's Western Valley Conference win over MVAOCOU.

Riley Doenhoefer had 14 points and Rachel Nelson 10 for the Eagles.

Brooklyn Beery led MVAOCOU with 13 points while Katelyn Trucke added 11.

CHEROKEE 67. SPIRIT LAKE 39: It was a night of milestones for the Hagberg family as Paityn Hagberg went over 1,000 points for her career and coach Heath Hagberg won his 100th game.

Paityn Hagberg scored a game-high 18 points to pace the No. 4 Braves (Class 3A) while Kassidy Pingel was close behind with 16 points.

Coach Hagberg is in his eighth season as the Cherokee coach and has guided the Braves to a pair of state tournament berths. His current team improved to 11-1.

RIDGE VIEW 62, OA-BCIG 43: Beth Pickhinke and Kenzee Wunschel both recorded double-doubles as the Ridge View girls basketball team pulled away late to defeat OA-BCIG 62-43 in a Western Valley Conference game on Friday in Holstein.

Pickhinke had 15 points and 12 rebounds while Wunschel notched 11 points and 11 boards. Kinzey Dutler finished with 13 points for Ridge View (8-4) and Kara Richard added 10.

Anna Van Dusen scored 12 points for OA-BCIG (2-12).

The game was tied at 29-all at halftime and Ridge View led 43-39 through three quarters. The Raptors then outscored OA-BCIG 19-4 in the final frame.

STORM LAKE 85, ELC 80: Storm Lake closed overtime on a 12-6 run to register a Lakes Conference win over Estherville-Lincoln Central.

Briana Soto and Kaylee Oehler led the Tornadoes with 15 points apiece while Skylar Cole tallied 11 and double figures also came from Ariel Bozonie and Nyathal Deng with 10 each.

BOYDEN-HULL 57, SHELDON 43: Brooke Zylstra scored 17 points as Boyden-Hull downed Sheldon in a Siouxland Conference contest on Friday.

Brianna Kleinwolterink had 15 points and Mallory Nilles 11 for the Comets (4-8).

Kacy Kamphoff led Sheldon with 13 points and Katie Wagner added 11.

OKOBOJI 60, WEST LYON 43: Camry Jones scored 18 points and had 12 rebounds to lead the Pioneers to a Siouxland Conference win over the Wildcats in a girls basketballl game played in Milford, Iowa Friday.

Kallyn Stumbo also had a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds for Okoboji (11-3 overall and 8-3 Siouxland) while Grace Wintz added 12 points and 12 caroms. Jordyn Kramer had 17 points to lead West Lyon.

LAUREL-CONCORD/COLERIDGE 54, CREIGHTON 29: Bryn Schutte scored 13 points as Laurel-Concord/Coleridge downed Creighton in a Lewis & Clark Conference contest on Friday.

Lorna Maxon added nine points and five rebounds while Makayla Forsberg had six points and eight rebounds in the win.

ALLEN 51, WHITING 38: Bri Hingst scored 22 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and had 10 steals as Allen posted a non-conference win over Whiting on Friday.

Carly Dickens added 13 points for Allen (2-9).

WYNOT 69, WINNEBAGO 55: Shaelee Planer scored 18 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as sixth-ranked (D2) Wynot downed Winnebago in a Lewis & Clark Conference contest Friday in Wynot.

Katelyn Heine tallied 15 points, Michaela Lange 12 and Julia Eskens 10 points and 12 rebounds for the Blue Devils (9-4).

Charli Earth led Winnebago with 22 points and Jayli Price added 16.

South Dakota

ELK POINT-JEFFERSON 42, PONCA 38: Elsie Aslesen scored eight points as the Elk Point-Jefferson girls defeated Ponca 42-38 on Friday in Ponca.

Taylor Lamprecht finished with 20 points for Ponca (9-6).

With the game tied at 38-all, EP-J (3-5) scored with around 1:30 left to take a 40-38 lead. After a missed field goal from Ponca, Addison Ludwig made a pair of free throws for EP-J to give the Huskies a two-score lead.
