SLOAN, Iowa -- A big spurt to start the fourth quarter helped usher Westwood past Woodbury Central 61-45 in the semifinals of the Western Valley Conference girls basketball tournament on Monday.
The Rebels, leading 38-33 at begin the fourth, opened the final frame on a 13-3 run and pushed their season record to 15-4.
Carah Drees led Westwood with 23 points and 21 rebounds while Brenna Pike had 14 points. Andee Martin added 12 points and 10 assists for a team that will play in the WVC championship game for the second straight season.
Westwood, who will face Kingsley-Pierson on Saturday in Onawa in a rematch of last year's WVC title game, led 18-8 after one quarter as Drees and Martin combined for 14 of those 18.
Woodbury Central came storming back in the second quarter to pull within one at halftime, 24-23.
The Wildcats, now 13-5, were led by Maddie Paulsen with 16 points, 10 coming in the first half while Sidney Steffen chipped in 11 points and seven steals.
Woodbury Central plays at Ridge View in WVC consolation play on Thursday.
HLP 69, HMS 62: Jazmin Voehl scored 21 points as Harris-Lake Park edged Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn in Monday's game between War Eagle Conference members.
Taylor Meyer had 17 points and Avery Heikens 14 for the Wolves.
Olivia Japenga led HMS (7-10) with 22 points while Erin Streit added 16.
RIDGE VIEW 51, SIOUXLAND CHRISTIAN 45: Kennedy Mason and Beth Pickhinke scored 14 points apiece as Ridge View clipped Siouxland Christian in a consolation contest of the Western Valley Conference tournament on Monday in Sioux City.
Cassie Jones had 11 points and Daisy Hiserote 10 for Siouxland Christian, who will play West Monona on Thursday in Holstein.
BRLD 68, HLHF 56: Sophia Hennemann scored 18 points as Bancroft-Rosalie/Lyons Decatur Northeast downed Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family in a East Husker Conference tournament quarterfinal on Monday in Stanton.
Paige Peters and Tiahna Bonneau had 11 points apiece while Vicki Gatzemeyer added 10 for the Wolverines, now 15-4.
WAUSA 46, WYNOT 44: Ghatlin Hegge scored 14 points and Drew Munter added 13 as Wausa edged Wynot in the Lewis & Clark Conference tournament on Monday in Osmond.
PONCA 72, BLOOMFIELD 23: Carter Kingsbury had 16 points as top-radnked Ponca rolled past Bloomfield in a Lewis & Clark Conference tournament game Monday in Ponca.
Connor Day tallied 15 points, Brandon Kneifl 10 while Logan Kingsbury added six assists for the top-seeded Indians.
LCC 62, WAKEFIELD 60: Noah Schutte scored 27 points as Laurel-Concord/Coleridge edged Wakefield in a Lewis & Clark Conference tourney game Monday in Ponca.
Ty Erwin added 16 points while Izac Reifenrath tallied 10 points, eight rebounds, six assists and six steals for the Bears, who will play Ponca in the quarterfinals on Thursday.
OSMOND 82, HOMER 49: Keaton Timmerman scored 20 points as Osmond sidelined Homer in a Lewis & Clark Conference tournament game on Monday in Osmond.
Alex Kumm tallied 19 points and Nick Reikofski added 18 for Osmond.
Josh Bogges led Homer with 10 points.
