REMSEN, Iowa | Remsen St. Mary's improved to 2-0 with a 60-49 victory over South O'Brien on Friday.
The Hawks never trailed as they got 22 points from Nicholas Ruden and Spencer Schorg added 14.
South O'Brien was paced by Carson Louscher's 17 and Peyton Brasser added 16.
The Hawks are 2-1 and the Wolverines are 1-1.
SIOUX CENTRAL 69, NEWELL-FONDA 51: Hunter Decker scored 24 points as the Sioux Central boys basketball team defeated Newell-Fonda 69-51 on Friday in Sioux Rapids.
Chase Jessen had 17 points for Sioux Central (1-1) and Logan Grote finished with 11.
Bryce Coppock scored a game-high 29 points for Newell-Fonda (0-2) and Jake Davis notched 11 points.
WESTWOOD 65, SIOUXLAND CHRISTIAN 44: Drew Brekke, Carter Copple and Jacob Miller each recorded a double-double as the Westwood boys basketball team defeated Siouxland Christian 65-44 on Friday in Sloan.
Drew Brekke finished with 24 points and 10 rebounds for the Rebels (2-1). Carter Copple scored 12 points and grabbed 13 rebounds while Jacob Miller had 11 points and pulled down 12 boards.
Jeremy Seibert scored 14 points for Siouxland Christian (0-3). Jonah Deroos finished with 13 points and Parker Moss chipped in 12.
TRINITY CHRISTIAN 77, AKRON-WESTFIELD 74: Byron Maassen scored 21 points and the Trinity Christian boys basketball team held on to beat Akron-Westfield 77-74 on Friday in Akron.
Jon Andringa had 19 points for Trinity (1-2) and Shane Kooima added 13.
Nick Jacobs hit a school-record nine three-pointers for Akron-Westfield (1-1), breaking his own record of seven. Connor Anderson scored 13 points and Aaron Hartman tossed in 12.
Trinity led 62-52 through three quarters, but Akron-Westfield rallied and had a chance to tie. Trailing 77-74, the Westerners missed a three-pointer with 13 seconds left.
SPIRIT LAKE 49, UNITY CHRISTIAN 43: Owen Coburn scored 21 points and grabbed eight rebounds as the Spirit Lake boys basketball team improved to 2-0 with a 49-43 win over Unity Christian on Friday in Spirit Lake.
Sam Byker finished with 11 points for Unity Christian (1-1) and Adam Viet added 10.
MVAOCOU 54, WEST MONONA 49: Connor Beeck scored 17 points Colby Seuntjens tossed in 16 as the MVAOCOU boys basketball team improved to 2-0 with a 54-49 win over West Monona on Friday in Onawa.
Gage Rotnicke had 25 points for West Monona (1-1) and Calvin Coffman added 12.
KINGSLEY-PIERSON 61, OA-BCIG 49: Nathan Keck scored 22 points as the Kingsley-Pierson boys basketball team opened its season with a 61-49 win over OA-BCIG on Friday in Kingsley.
Jessen Reinking finished with 16 points for Kingsley-Pierson (1-0) and Kaden Schroeder added 10.
Kaden Ladwig scored 22 points for OA-BCIG (1-1) and Landon Ray had 12.
WOODBURY CENTRAL 66, RIVER VALLEY 45: A 22-5 second-half run enabled Woodbury Central to put away a young River Valley squad, 66-45, in a Western Valley Conference boys' basketball contest in Correctionville on Friday night.
Leading 35-30 early in the third quarter, the visitors' pressure defense and a trio of scorers helped push the lead to 57-35.
Sophomore Mitchell Countryman paced WC with 15 points. Seniors Christopher Mandl and Kurt Countryman each tallied 13 points as the Wildcats improved to 1-2 on the season, 1-0 in loop play.
Colton Johnson, one of three freshmen in the RV starting lineup, paced the Wolverines with 12 points. Classmate Tyler Towne chipped in eight points, as did junior Trey Goettsch.
River Valley fell to 0-1 as it was the season-opener for Coach Kyle Trapp and his club.
LAWTON-BRONSON 41, RIDGE VIEW 38: Ben Thelander recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds as the Lawton-Bronson boys basketball team improved to 1-1 with a 41-38 win over Ridge View on Friday in Lawton.
Jaxon Franken scored 13 points for Ridge View (0-2).
Ridge View trimmed the lead to 34-33 with three minutes left in the game, but never could tie or take the lead.
WYNOT 51, WINSIDE 39: Landon Wieseler scored 21 points and Nate Wieseler chipped in 12 as Wynot downed Winside in a Lewis & Clark Conference contest on Friday.
Brandon Watters led Winside with 12 points.
LAUREL-CONCORD/COLERIDGE 68, CROFTON 58: Noah Schutte poured in 32 points as Laurel-Concord/Coleridge downed Crofton in a non-conference contest on Friday.
WYNOT 52, BLOOMFIELD 38: Ethan Lange scored 11 points as Wynot downed Bloomfield in a Lewis & Clark Conference contest on Thursday.
Braden Eisenhauer led Bloomfield with 21 points.
OKOBOJI 55, HARRIS-LAKE PARK 52, OT: Okoboji's Logan Abrahamson hit a bucket and converted the foul shot to help his team pull out the victory on Thursday.
Abrahamson finished the game with 18 points and Jamison Helmers added 14.
Harris-Lake Park (0-1) had a 32-27 lead at halftime as it was led by Bret Sohn's game-high 21.
