SIOUX CITY | McKenna Sims scored 21 points and Taryn Christensen recorded a double-double as the top-ranked (B) South Sioux City girls basketball team defeated Sioux City West 65-56 in a non-conference game here Tuesday.

Christensen finished with 10 points and 14 rebounds for South Sioux (7-3), which snapped a two-game skid. Tiffany Tinker had 17 points.

Carly Knutson-Kobold also had a double-double notching 16 points and 12 rebounds for West (7-4). Bricelyn Comstock had 15 points and Andrea Vazquez added 12.

West led 16-7 through one quarter then 34-22 at halftime. South Sioux then outscored the Wolverines 26-8 in the third quarter to take a 48-42 lead into the final period.

The West junior varsity team won 68-53. Ashleigh Fitzgerald led the Wolverines with 15 points and Madison Burge added 14. Jalen Galvin had 15 points for South Sioux and McKenna Comstock finished with 12.

South Sioux play next against third-ranked (C2) Crofton in the CNOS Classic on Friday at the Tyson Event Center while West plays fifth-ranked (2A) West Sioux in the same event.
