KEARNEY, Neb. | Hartington Cedar Catholic finished third in the Nebraska Class C Boys Golf Championship, which concluded on Wednesday at Meadowlark Hills Golf Course here.
Cedar Catholic (332-323) improved nine shots from the opening round on Tuesday, finishing at 655 and seven behind runner-up Kimball (648). Lincoln Lutheran won the team title with a 639.
Matthew Schaefer wound up seventh individually with 81-76—157, while teammate Capp Bengston was eighth at 80-78—158. The Trojans’ Kelby Schommer carded 79-88—167 (tie 27th), Quinn Paulsen 92-81—173 (tie 40th) and Reggie Miller 101-95—196 (tie 75th).
Ponca finished 11th in the team standings at 363-360—723. Casey Brentlinger paced the Indians with 83-89—172, tying for 36th. Evan Anderson was another shot back at 87-90—177, while Cole Richards shot 101-88—189 and Logan Kingsbury 95-109—204.
Devon Darnell of BRLD competed individually and tied for 15th with 82-81—163. Jack Thompson, a senior from Hastings St. Cecilia, was medalist with 75-74—149.
Randolph made a charge on Wednesday, finishing just three shots behind champion West Holt (661-664) in the Class D meet at Lake Maloney Golf Course.
Mason Stubbs and Cade Linville finished sixth and 10th, respectively, in the individual race. Stubbs shot 81-78—159 and Linville 88-77—165. Logan Nordhues tied for 13th with 85-82—167, Andrew Schnoor was 24th with 94-79—173 and Carter Schnoor 54th with 94-93—188.
