SIOUX CITY | Scoreless for a seven-game stretch, Sam Chadwick became the latest Sioux City Metro with a two-goal game.

Chadwick scored goals in the second and third periods Saturday afternoon as the Metros blitzed Cedar Rapids 9-1 in Midwest High School Hockey League action at the IBP Ice Center.

James Page paced Sioux City (12-3) with two goals and two assists, three of those points coming in the first two periods as Coach Dave LeGree’s squad raced to a 9-1 lead. Drake Beller added two goals and an assist.

Each of Beller’s points came in the game’s first 20 minutes. Beller and Walter Werden each assisted on Page’s goal, 11 second into the contest. Beller added two first-period goals and Tanner Frerichs also scored in the opening period.

Newman, Chadwick and Logan Visser scored second-period goals for the Metros. Third period action saw Chadwick tally a shorthanded goal while Page scored on the power play.

Visser and Frerichs each recorded a goal and two assists for Sioux City, which had an overwhelming 29-7 shots-on-goal advantage.

Winning goaltender Blake Beller (7-1) lost his shutout when Alexander Paoli’s goal with 6:24 left in the first period pulled Cedar Rapids within 3-1. Beller had six saves.

Sioux City’s junior varsity slipped to 7-6-2 after a 4-2 loss. Werden and Taylor Frerichs scored goals in the first and third period, respectively, while goaltender Will Stokes had 17 saves.

Weather permitting, the Metros will host Cedar Rapids today. The varsity game will start at 10 a.m. and the JV game will follow at Noon.
