SIOUX CITY | Like several of his teammates, Jarett Heyl has already established career-high scoring totals with a good share of the regular season left remaining.

A defenseman for the Sioux City Metros, Heyl scored a power-play goal at the 4:26 mark of overtime during Sunday morning’s 3-2 Midwest High School Hockey League win over Cedar Rapids at the IBP Ice Center.

Heyl also assisted, along with Chase Lewison, on Tanner Frerichs’ first-period goal. Heyl has five multiple-point games while posting season totals of four goals and 13 assists for Coach Dave LeGree’s squad.

James Page, who had two goals and two assists in Saturday afternoon’s 9-1 win over Cedar Rapids, gave Sioux City (13-3) a 2-1 lead with a third-period power play goal which hiked his scoring streak to four games. However, the Rough Riders tied the game on Lucas Karwal’s power play goal with 3:06 remaining in regulation.

Frerichs and Drake Beller assisted on Heyl’s game-winning goal. Both Frerichs (16 goals, 25 assists) and Beller (15, 13) will take six-game scoring streaks into Sioux City’s game Saturday against the first-place Des Moines Capitals.

Winning goaltender Blake Beller (8-1) recorded 14 saves.

Sioux City’s junior varsity fell 5-1 to Cedar Rapids. T.J. Lake scored a second-period goal for the Metros (7-7-2) while goaltender Will Stokes had 18 saves.

The Capitals will host varsity and JV games both Saturday and Sunday against the Metros.
