KANSAS CITY, Mo. | Dawson Engle scored five goals Sunday morning while leading the Kansas City Jets to an 8-2 Midwest High School Hockey League win over the Sioux City Metros.

Four of Engle’s goals came in the first period. Sioux City (9-10-1-1) trailed 4-0 when Trent Harsma scored a power-play goal about a minute into the second period.

Harsma, who was assisted on his 16th goal of the season by Tanner Frerichs and James Page, scored a goal for the third straight game, and has scored in eight of his last nine games.

Coach Dave LeGree’s Metros trailed 7-1 before Frerichs and Drake Beller assisted on Skyler Beller’s goal with 3:49 remaining until the second intermission.

Kansas City (21-0-0-1), leaders of the West Division, outshot the Metros 39-23. Goaltender Ben Morehead had 31 saves.

Connor Sand scored a third-period goal for Sioux City’s junior varsity, which slipped to 7-8-6 on the season after a 3-1 loss. Goaltender Blake Beller had 23 saves.

MHSHL action for the Metros resumes with games Saturday and Sunday at Cedar Rapids.
