SIOUX CITY -- The Sioux City Metros made it six for six following Sunday's 3-1 Midwest High School Hockey League victory over Ames at the IBP Ice Center.

Sioux City, 6-1 winners on Saturday, have won its first six games of the season, all at home.

Tanner Frerichs snapped a 1-1 tie on Sunday with a third period goal that was followed by a James Page goal.

Grant Newman scored in the first period for the Metros (6-0), while Carter Manthorne made 19 saves in net.

Drake Beller tallied hat trick in Saturday's game while Lewison scored twice and Page also scored.

Blake Beller stopped 22 shots in net to win Saturday's contest.

The Metros junior varsity team improved to 4-1-1 with a sweep over Ames, getting wins of 5-2 on Sunday after a 6-1 victory on Saturday.

T.J. Lake, Walter Werden, Taylor Frerichs, Joey Erickson and Joshua Menzenberg tallied goals Sunday as the JV squad rallied from a 2-0 deficit after one period.

Reece McDonald scored twice on Saturday while Nick Novak, Jacob Hansen, Taylor Frerichs and Cale Bricker also scored.

Will Stokes was the winning goalkeeper in both contests, stopping 15 shots on Sunday and 14 on Saturday.
