MADISON, S.D. | The second-ranked (A) Dakota Valley volleyball team went 2-1 and placed second at the Dakota XII Conference tournament here Saturday.

The Panthers (22-3) swept West Central (25-10, 25-12) and Madison (25-14, 25-14) before falling to top-ranked Sioux Falls Christian in the championship match (19-25, 25-17, 25-20).

Meredith Lammers finished with 30 kills and 31 digs for Dakota Valley. Elizabeth Lammers notched 30 kills and 22 digs, Nikita Reinschmidt recorded 15 kills, Jensyn Younger added 13 and Madisyn Heeren had 11. Ally Beresford dished out 95 assists and Alyssa Johnson logged 29 digs.

Elk Point-Jefferson went 1-2 and  placed fourth. The Huskies (14-10) swept Dell Rapids (25-22, 25-16) but lost to Sioux Falls Christian (25-11, 25-6) and then to Madison in the third-place match (25-22, 25-14).

Ally Nearman finished with 12 kills and 20 digs for EP-J. Kenna Curry notched 10 kills, Karly Marx dished out 43 assists and added 18 digs. Addison Ludwig recorded 33 digs, Meghan Brewer registered 21 and Katelyn Chytka had 20.

Vermillion went 2-1 and finished ninth. The Tanagers (7-16) lost to West Central (25-23, 25-17) then beat both Canton (25-23, 25-20) and Tri-Valley (25-19, 25-15).

Rachel Brady finished with 11 kills and 34 digs for Vermillion. Haley Doty recorded 11 kills and 30 digs, Emily Stockwell notched 12 kills and Lexi Saunders dished out 47 assists. Emily Bye registered 54 digs and Maddie Treiber had 32.
