BERESFORD, S.D. | The second-ranked (A) and defending-state-champion Dakota Valley volleyball team punched its sixth-straight ticket to the state tournament by sweeping Elk Point-Jefferson 25-19, 25-16, 25-13 in a Sweet 16 qualifier match here Tuesday.

Twin sisters Elizabeth and Meredith Lammers finished with 18 and 13 kills respectively for the Panthers (26-3). Ally Beresford dished out 42 assists while Alyssa Johnson recorded 13 digs and Hanna Cummins added 10.

Nikita Reinschmidt chipped in five kills for a Dakota Valley squad that posted its third victory of the season over its Dakota XII Conference rivals.

Karly Marx dished out 17 assists and had six digs for EP-J (17-12). Addison Ludwig notched 10 digs and Carlie Corder logged seven kills.

The Huskies, Sweet 16 qualifiers for the second straight season, received five kills from Kenna Curry and three kills and eight digs from Ally Nearman.

This is the second season South Dakota has used the Sweet 16 format, taking the 16 winners of the regional semifinals and reseed them based on the power point system the state uses.

Dakota Valley will be the two-seed in the state tournament which begins next Thursday at the Rushmore Civic Center in Rapid City.
