LINCOLN | The No. 2 (C2) and second-seeded Nebraska Christian volleyball team swept No. 6 and seventh-seeded Ponca 25-18, 25-21, 25-15 in the opening round of the Nebraska state tournament here Thursday.

Kelsey Fields recorded 10 kills for Ponca. Alexa Van Dyke dished out 23 assists and added 12 digs. Sophie Kramper notched 23 digs, Josie Reid tallied 16 and Alyssa Crosgrove had 10.

Katelynn Halstead finished with 17 kills and 12 digs for Nebraska Christian (32-0). Claire Ostrand logged 14 kills and 12 digs. Carsyn Ostrtand dished out 39 assists and added 10 digs.

The Indians, in their first state tournament since 1999, end their season at 29-6.
