FREMONT, Neb. | Sioux City East finished third at the Fremont Wrestling Invite on Friday with a pair of champions. The Black Raiders scored 169.5 points to finish behind Fremont 184.5 and Norfolk 223.
No. 9 (Class 3A) Sean Heeney rolled to the title at 113 pounds with a pin over Millard West's Wyatt May in 22 seconds. Rafe McClendon was equally impressive winning at 120 with a 17-2 technical fall over Fremont's Hector Villagomez.
Angel Morales came out on the short end of a 13-10 decision to Fremont's Noah Molzahn to finish as the runner-up at 138. Patrick Fisher was pinned in 5:35 to finish as the runner-up at 160.
Alex Kleider downed Eklhorn's Robert Lauby in sudden victory 4-2 at 145 to take third as did Dylan Harper at 170 thanks to an 18-3 technical fall. Steven Huscher took third at 195 for the Black Raiders with a pin in 3:44.
Drew Walters took fourth at 182 with Dawson DeBell taking fifth and Jon Walker sixth. Dalton Dwyer took fourth 182 as did Dalton Dwyer at 220 while Johnny Gomez took sixth at 126 and Patrick Conley was sixth at 285.
