KINGSLEY, Iowa | West Sioux held off Westwood to claim the Kingsley-Pierson tournament title 245-200 here Saturday.
The Falcons crowned five champions beginning with top-ranked Adam Allard who pinned Hinton's Aiden Christiansen in 52 seconds. Dillon Lynott took the 120 title with a pin of Westwood's Brennan Brown in 3:02.
Seth Salker made it three West Sioux champions in a row when he pinned Westwood's Brady Brown in 28 seconds. Second-ranked Kory Van Oort remained undefeated on the season when he downed teammate Jeshua Cervantes by pin in 1:28 at 145. Heavyweight Darlyn Marquez claimed the final West Sioux title with a 6-3 win over Nathan Payne of Westwood.
Westwood had back-to-back champions at 132 with Hunter Hanner earning a 10-5 decision over Kyle Brighton of Hinton and Sean Westergaard pinned Ridge View's Dylan Wood in 5:48 at 138. The Rebels also saw Zach Adams win by injury default at 195, and Trenton Dirks pinned Trenton Miller of Ridge View in 4:21 to win at 220.
Akron-Westfield's Jader Briggs pinned Kingsley-Pierson's Jaden Clements in 2:31 to win at 106. Top-ranked John Henrich continued his march through the season with a pin of Ridge View's Lance Else in 4:48 in the finals at 160. Christian Wolthuizen also won at 182 by medical forfeit.
Hinton's Teegan Tschampel earned an 11-2 major decision over West Sioux's David Topete to win at 152. The Blackhawks' Derek Anderson won at 170 by disqualification over West Sioux's Neddy Montes.
Team scores: West Sioux 245, Westwood 200, Hinton 170, Akron-Westfield 93, Ridge View 70.5, Kingsley-Pierson 49.
HEIDEN PLACES SECOND FOR DENISON-SCHLESWIG
COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa | Denison-Schleswig’s Jaden Heiden placed second at 220 pounds at the Hawkeye 10 Conference tournament here Saturday.
Heiden was pinned by Isaac Bales of Glenwood in the championship match.
The Monarchs placed 10th in the 11-team tournament with 28 points.
Glenwood won with a team score of 237.5 and crowned three champions.
KAFTON CROWNED AT EAST MILLS
HASTINGS, Iowa | The MVAOCOU wrestling team crowned one champion and placed sixth at the East Mills Invitational here Saturday.
The Rams had a team score of 106 at the nine-team tournament and crowned Bryce Kafton (120) champion. Kafton pinned Layne Ettleman of Sidney in the championship match.
Sam Wagner (106), Jackson Krusen (138) and Cameron Boyle placed second for MVAOCOU.
Southwest Valley won the tournament with a team score of 172.5 and crowned two champions.
HMS PLACES SECOND AT LYNN MOODY
POCAHONTAS, Iowa | Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn finished second at the Lynn Moody Invitational and had seven wrestlers place either second or third here Saturday.
HMS compiled a team score of 168. Chase Verbrugge (126), Max Meyers (132), Trever Dodd (145), Kaleb Schnurr (195) and Dalton Lode (220) placed second for the Hawks. Trever Mortenson (120) and Tommy Heetland (170) finished third.
Alta-Aurelia crowned two champions and placed fifth with 132 points. Sam Sherkenbach (113) and Nicholas Gaes (220) won their respective weight classes for the Warriors. Sherkenbach won a 7-5 decision over Monte Matthews of GTRA in the championship match while Gaes pinned Lode. Alex De Roos (170) placed second for Alta-Aurelia while Tyler Peterson (106) and Dalton Woosley (285) finished third.
GTRA won with a team score of 259 and crowned seven champions.
