SIOUX FALLS | Vermillion sophomore Brett Bye hiked his season record to 15-0 while winning the 152-pound weight class title at the Floyd Farrand Tournament, held Friday and Saturday at Sioux Falls Lincoln High School.

Bye opened with a 23-6 technical fall over Sean Muilenberg of Sioux Falls Roosevelt and advanced to the semifinals with an 8-5 decision over Wagner’s Brady Soulek. Bye blanked Brookings’ Devon Crandall 3-0 and claimed the title with a 5-3 overtime win over Parkston’s Mitch Heisinger.

Regan Bye took fifth at 145 for the Tanagers. Teammate Carter Kratz was seventh at 132.

Vermillion finished 13th in the 19-team tournament with 55.5 points.

Parkston outscored Sturgis 199.5-177.5 to win the title.
