Formerly known as the Bloomington Thunder when it competed in the USHL from 2014 to 2016, the team rebranded itself and became known as the Central Illinois Flying Aces … The Flying Aces have been outscored 14-4 while losing each of their last three games … Poor special teams play has been a factor as the squad ranks 16th in the penalty kill (73.5 percent) and last in the 17-team league on the power play (5.3 percent) … Central Illinois has also been outscored 24-9 in the third period this season … Tyler Madden (5 goals, 7 assists) ranks third in USHL rookie scoring with 12 points while fellow rookie Drew Elser (6, 2) is third with six goals … Charlie Raith (2, 4) had a goal and an assist in Friday’s 4-3 loss to Youngstown while Wojciech Stachowiak (2, 3), a native of Gdansk, Poland, dealt two assists … defenseman Simon Butala (1, 2) was scoreless in 11 games during the 2014-15 season for the Musketeers … Scoring leader Jakub Lacka (8, 5) is a native of Bratislava, Slovakia.
Adam Tisdale (6 goals, 6 assists) was named the USHL’s forward of the week after scoring six points in two wins, including two assists in Friday’s 3-1 win at Madison and then providing three goals and an assist in Saturday’s 5-4 win over the Musketeers at Mystique Ice Center … Tisdale also had three goals and an assist in a 6-5 overtime win at Central Illinois on Nov. 11 … Tyce Thompson (3, 6) delivered assists on each of Tisdale’s three goals, two which came on the power play … Team scoring leader and former Musketeer Alex Steeves (7, 8) ended a 10-game scoring streak against the team for which he had five goals and six assists in 2015-16 … Cole Guttman (5, 5) and Tisdale each have three power play goals and have combined for five power play assists … Dubuque’s 3-for-3 power play performance against the Musketeers elevated itself to fourth in the USHL (25.5 percent) in that department … Defenseman Josh Maniscalco (3, 5) has four power-play assists, two which came in the win over the Musketeers.
