*-Records going into Friday night’s games
Strange as it sounds, this weekend’s schedule marks the beginning of four consecutive games between Coach Luke Strand’s Musketeers and Fargo, as the two teams will also meet Jan. 25 at Scheels Arena and Jan. 26 at the Tyson Events Center ... Sioux City won the season opener at Fargo, 3-2 in overtime, getting a game-winning goal from Sampo Ranta (9 goals, 7 assists) while Fargo won twice at the Tyson Events Center, 4-2 on Nov. 11 and 5-1 on Nov. 18 ... Ranta and Hayden Rowan (2, 6) each recorded a goal and an assist in the season-opener against the Force ... Three others have scored goals against Fargo this season, Micah Miller (9, 5), Matt Miller (3, 4) and Dorian Dawson (1, 2) ... Dawson was originally drafted in the seventh round of last May’s USHL Phase II Draft by Fargo ... Martin Pospisil (2, 8) and defenseman scoring leader Brady Ferner (2, 7) each enter tonight’s game riding three-game scoring streaks ... Matt Jurusik (10-10-4, 2.71 goals-against average) picked up his league-leading fourth shootout victory in last Friday’s 5-4 win over Team USA and ranks third among the league’s goaltenders with 1,396 minutes ... The newest Musketeer in camp is forward Matyas Svoboda, a 6-foot-2, 212-pound native of Udlize, Czech Republic ... Svoboda was acquired Tuesday from the Ontario Hockey League’s Peterborough Petes, where he combined for 10 goals and seven assists the last 1 ½ seasons.
Fargo has been atop the Western Conference since the Nov. 11 win over the Musketeers, a game where Grant Hebert (9 goals, 21 assists) snapped a 1-all tie on a goal, 37 seconds into the second period ... Hebert is the USHL’s fifth-leading scorer with 30 points while Jacob Schmidt-Svejstrup (17, 12) is sixth at 29 for a squad that ranks second in the league with 110 goals ... Ty Farmer (3, 18) is second in defenseman scoring with 21 points while Ben Meyers (10, 4) is tied for third with seven power-play goals for the USHL’s second-best power play at 22.7 percent ... Hebert has five power-play goals and five power-play assists while the Force’s other man-advantage leaders include Schmidt-Svejstrup (5, 3) and Griffin Loughran (3, 2) ... Loughran’s totals also include 11 goals and 13 assists ... Fargo also has a one-two goaltender punch with Strauss Mann (10-3-2), fifth in the league with a 2.13 GAA and seventh-ranked Ryan Bischel (9-5-3, 2.35 GAA).
