MUSKETEERS NOTES

Coach Luke Strand’s Musketeers were 5-3-3 last month and maintained their sixth-place showing in the Western Conference, sporting a 36-31 points margin over seventh-place Lincoln ... Tonight marks the first of three back-to-back weekend games against Eastern Conference opponents this month, with the others coming on the 9th and 10th at the Tyson Events Center against Youngstown and on the 23rd and 24th at Muskegon ... The Musketeers, in back-to-back games against the same opponent this season, have posted a 5-1 record, which include last Thursday’s 4-3 shootout win at Scheels Arena against Fargo and a 2-1 win over Fargo the following night at the Tyson ... Sioux City is 5-5 against the East this season, but has been outscored 37-29, which included a 9-2 loss at Team USA on Jan. 13 and a 7-2 loss at Chicago on Jan. 14 ... Prior to those two defeats, the Musketeers had four straight wins over the East, beginning with a shutout for Ben Kraws (1-3-2, 4.37 goals-against-average) in a 2-0 win over Dubuque on Dec. 2 ... Cole Koepke (15 goals, 1 assist), who scored the squad’s lone goal in Tuesday’s 7-1 loss at Lincoln, has nine goals against East teams, Micah Miller (11, 6) has three goals and one assist while Martin Pospisil (3, 13) has two goals and four assists ... Team captain Brady Ferner (2, 8) has also enjoyed success against the East with a goal, six assists and an assist in each of the last four games ... Koepke’s goal, 30 seconds into the first period at Lincoln, was the Musketeers’ fastest first goal of the season ... Koepke, Ferner and Ryan Leibold (3, 4) are the lone Musketeers to play in all 35 games ... Sampo Ranta (11, 8), who missed his first game of the season at Lincoln, leads the squad with seven points (3 goals, 4 assists) on the power play ... Matt Jurusik (14-11-4, 2.60 GAA) enters the weekend series second in the USHL in both minutes (1,661) and saves (768) ...

GREEN BAY NOTES

Green Bay has been one of five teams which have either led or tied for the Eastern Conference lead this season, joined by Central Illinois, Chicago, Youngstown and Team USA ... Back in mid-December, the Gamblers had gone on a 5-0-1 spurt that produced a 16-9-3 record and on Jan. 6, led the East by a 35-30 points margin over Dubuque following a 7-4 win over Central Illinois, but since then, they have lost five of their last six games, outscored 16-8 and blanked twice  ... Trenton Bliss (13 goals, 19 assists) posted his 10th multi-point game of the season in last Friday’s 3-2 overtime win over Madison ... Both Bliss and Nolan Moyle (11, 14) have four power play goals while Moyle and Josh Dunne (11, 13) each have four power play assists ... Brock Caufield (4, 14) is Green Bay’s top scorer on the man advantage with two goals and seven assists ... The Gamblers have the USHL’s third-best penalty kill (85.7 percent) ... Maksim Zhukov (16-10-2, 2.38 GAA), a native of Kalingrad, Russia, leads the league’s goaltenders in wins (16) and minutes (1,691) while also recording two shutouts ... Green Bay has been outscored 37-24 while going 4-6 against Western Conference teams ... Dunne has a team-high three goals against West teams.
