FARGO, N.D. | Goalie Matt Jurusik had a sterling night in goal and stopped all but one of the 35 shots he faced as he narrowly missed his first shutout in net while leading Sioux City past Fargo 2-1 in a United States Hockey League game played a Scheels Arena Friday.

Dylan Mills and newcomer Matyas Svoboda scored goals for the Musketeers, who won the first of a two-game set in Fargo. The teams play here again Saturday evening.

Mills got Sioux City the lead 14:03 into the game for his sixth goal of the season. Ryan Leibold and Dorian Dawson both had assists, the third for each.

Left winger Svoboda, playing in his first game in green and white, gave Sioux City a 2-0 lead in the second period. Svoboda, from the Czech Republic, was in the middle of his second season of playing for the Petersborough Petes of the Ontrario Hockey League before being released earlier this month. He was signed by the Musketeers earlier in the week.

Svoboda scored off a nifty pass from Martin Pospisil from point blank range. Goal-scoring by players making their debut for Sioux City has been the norm this season, with Adam Kadlec and Bauer Neudecker also scoring in their initial trip to the ice for the Muksies.

Garrett Van Wyhe spoiled Jurusik's shutout attempt with 42 seconds left, scoring his 10th of the year to make thing interesting late.
