KEARNEY, Neb. | Connor McMenamin scored the game-winning goal in overtime, while leading the Tri-City Storm to a 5-4 win during United States Hockey League action Friday night at the Viaero Center.
Sioux City (10-11-4), which entered with a five-game winning streak, jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first period with a goal from Dylan Mills at the 12:06 mark.
Tri-City (18-7-1) responded in the second period with consecutive goals from Tyler Ward, Blais Richartz and Jack Summers for a 3-1 lead. However, the Musketeers got a goal from Ryan Leibold with 22 seconds left before the second intermission to pull within a goal.
Bauer Neudecker and Micah Miller scored at the 5:36 and the 6:33 marks respectively, for Sioux City to take a 4-3 lead. Neudecker came in a trade from Dubuque earlier in the week.
The Storm responded with a Tyler Madden goal at the 17:49 mark to tie the game at 4-all.
McMenamin, who played for the Musketeers last season, then scored the game-winning goal off an assist from Summers at the 2:34 mark of overtime.
Sioux City is now 0-1-3 against the Storm this season with a pair of overtime losses and a shootout loss.
Sioux City goaltender Matt Jurusik had allowed just one goal in each of the last games before allowing five on Friday.
The Musketeers will play at Lincoln Saturday night.
