SIOUX CITY | Reid Stefanson scored one goal and added two assists as the Sioux Falls Stampede defeated the Sioux City Musketeers 5-3 in a United States Hockey League game at the Tyson Events Center Friday.
Sioux City jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first period on a goal from Martin Pospisil at the 10:34 mark.
Kirill Panyukov tied the game at 1-all with a goal in a busy second period off an assist from Stefanson at the 2:39 mark.
The Musketeers retook the lead at 2-1 with a goal from Micah Miller at the 4:01 mark off an assist from Cole Koepke. After a Stampede goal to tie the game, the Musketeers responded with an unassisted goal from Koepke at the 14:52 mark of the second period. Unfortunately, that was the final goal for Sioux City.
After an Antti Virtanen goal tied the game in the second period, Stefanson scored at the 3:42 mark of the third period off an assist from Carson Dimoff. Jaxon Nelson then scored an insurance goal at the 18:47 mark of the third period off an assist from Mitchell Mattson.
The Musketeers fall to 3-1-1 against Sioux Falls on the season.
Sioux City plays next at Madison on Wednesday.
