SIOUX CITY – The No. 11 (3A) East girls soccer team defeated Council Bluffs Abraham Lincoln 2-1 in a Missouri River Activities Conference match to earn at least a share of the MRAC title Tuesday at Rich Vanderloo Field.

After trailing 1-0 in the second half, East’s Paola Ochoa scored on a corner kick in the 55th minute to tie the game at 1-all. Sophie Benson then scored the go-ahead goal in the 60th minute off an assist from Natalie Cloud.

Goalkeeper Emma Von Hagel notched seven saves for East (10-3).

East has now won at least a share of the MRAC title for three straight seasons.

East plays next at Lewis Central on Friday.

UNITY CHRISTIAN 3, WEST 1: Micah Byl, Jori Bronner and Aarika Van Gelder each scored one goal as the Unity Christian girls soccer team defeated Sioux City West 3-1 in a nonconference match on Tuesday in Orange City, Iowa.

Vanessa Hernandez scored the lone goal for West in the 60th minute off Megan Juhnke.

Goalkeeper Kaelin Alons recorded 19 saves for Unity Christian. Abby Simmons notched seven saves for West and Abby Duenas had one.

West plays next at Sergeant Bluff-Luton on Thursday.

SB-L 10, MISSOURI VALLEY 0: Abby Freeman and Abby Wisecup both scored two goals as the Sergeant Bluff-Luton girls soccer team thrashed Missouri Valley 10-0 in a nonconference match on Tuesday in Missouri Valley, Iowa.

Zoie Robinson, Jordan Trover and Kendall Weidner each had one goal and dished out two assists for SB-L (6-7). Katherine Aymar, Brooklyn Huberty and Lauren Lucas each scored one goal.

Goalkeepers Riley McHugh-Hoskins and Jenna Ryan finished with two and one saves, respectively for SB-L.

SB-L hosts Sioux City West on Thursday for senior night.

Boys

EAST 10, UNITY CHRISTIAN 0: James Page scored three goals and the No. 14 (3A)  East boys soccer team routed Orange City Unity Christian 10-0 in a nonconference match on Tuesday at Rich Vanderloo Field.

Eduardo Ramirez finished with two goals for East (11-2). John Coronado, Jadyn Mack, Miguel Ponce, Jose Ruiz and Jared Schroeder each scored one goal.

East hosts West on Friday for senior night.

SB-L 9, MISSOURI VALLEY 0: David Clausen and Brennan Sitzmann both scored two goals as the No. 12 (2A) Sergeant Bluff-Luton boys soccer team blanked Missouri Valley 9-0 in a nonconference match on Tuesday in Missouri Valley, Iowa.

Bryley Burgad, Colin Margellos, Tavian Sanchez, Brady Schaap and Ty Shoulders each scored one goal for SB-L (10-4). Cole Garrett dished out two assists.

Sitzmann, who played goalkeeper in the first half, finished with three saves for SB-L. Ross Gengler added three more saves in the second half to preserve the shutout.

SB-L plays next at Denison-Schleswig on Thursday.
