PARKVILLE, Mo. | Dordt’s softball team stretched its winning streak to four games following Saturday’s 7-5, 2-1 doubleheader sweep over Park University.

Hailey Heerenga’s 2-for-4 slate included a two-run single in the sixth inning that gave Dordt a 7-4 lead. Marissa VandenBerg was 3-for-3 with a double while Abby Smith was 2-for-4 in support of winning pitcher Tianna Top, who scattered 12 hits and struck out two.

Corinne May hit an RBI single in the first inning for Dordt (5-3) while Rachel Evavold’s RBI single in the third inning produced a 2-1 lead. Winning pitcher Marlia Mundorf allowed four hits and struck out one.

VALPARAISO 8, SOUTH DAKOTA 7: Valparaiso scored twice in the bottom of the eighth inning to extend Saturday’s game at the Grand Canyon Classic in Phoenix then got a walk-off single from Addi Burke in the bottom of the ninth to pull out the win.

Jamie Holscher’s three hits for the Coyotes included a two-run single in the sixth inning for a 6-4 lead. Camille Fowler was 3-for-4, scored two runs and tied the game 4-all with a groundout in the sixth. Jessica Rogers homered.

SOUTH DAKOTA 11, PRINCETON 5: Jessica Rogers was 3-for-4 with a three-run home run in the first inning as the Coyotes scored six runs and led from start to finish at the Grand Canyon Classic.

Rogers is 8-for-12 at the tournament for South Dakota (6-14) and has scored four runs. Lauren Eamiguel was 2-for-3 with three RBIs while Taylor Steinfeldt added two hits in support of winning pitcher Sarah Lisko, who scattered 12 hits in four innings.

NORTHWESTERN 3, BETHEL 0: Samantha Ubben scattered eight hits over seven innings and struck out three Saturday morning while helping Northwestern to the victory at the Friends Invitational.

Emily Sones’ two-run single highlighted a three-run third inning for the Red Raiders. Jessica Sandbulte also singled home a run in the frame.

Sones was 3-for-3 while Madison Beaver singled twice.

Northwestern improved its season record to 3-1 following a 9-2 win over McPherson College. Details from this game were not available.

BUENA VISTA 4, NORTHWESTERN-ST. PAUL 3: Carlee Guyett hit an infield single with two out in the bottom of seventh inning to give the Beavers a walk-off win in a game at the Rochester Dome in Rochester, Minnesota Saturday.

Guyett had two hits and drove in a pair in her first collegiate game while her sister Moriah Guyett struck out eight to get the pitching win. Jeanne Bramhall and Kennedy Colvert also had double for Buena Vista, which played Lake Forest College later Saturday.

Late Friday

DORDT 12-5, PERU STATE 1-4: Hannah Sikkema rapped a two-run home run in the second inning and Rachel Evavold smacked a three-run homer in the fifth in the first game of Dordt’s Friday sweep at Peru State.

Evavold’s 3-for-5 slate also included two doubles and five RBIs. Sikkema was 2-for-4 with three RBIs while both Carley DeRoin and Ashley Williams were each 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Winning pitcher Tianna Top scattered seven hits and struck out four.

The Defenders took advantage of two errors while scoring three runs in the top of the seventh inning to score the sweep. DeRoin was 2-for-3 while Evavold tripled and singled in four plate appearances. Evavold, also the winning pitcher, allowed four hits and two walks while striking out eight.
