STERLING, Kan. | Sterling used a big third quarter to overtake Briar Cliff, 78-75, in a college women’s basketball game here Friday night.
Briar Cliff (2-2) led 13-10 after one quarter and 36-32 at halftime, but was outscored 29-19 in the third quarter and never recovered.
Taylor Wagner and Taylor Vasa scored 12 points each for the Chargers, who shot 41 percent from the floor and committed 22 turnovers. Alyssa Carley chipped in 11 points and Johanna Vaske 10 points. Vasa, who came off the bench, also led the team with eight rebounds.
Kylah Comley and Jordin Greer of Kansas Wesleyan shared game-high honors with 19 points each.
Briar Cliff is back in action here again Saturday, facing No. 12 Tabor.
