DES MOINES -- Oscar Alvarez Cancel slammed a match-high 15 kills in Morningside's loss against St. Ambrose 25-13, 26-24, 22-25, 25-18 in the title match at the at the Grand View University Molten Invitational on Friday. Jacob Brand just missed double figures with nine kills and Caden toben added 39 assists for the Mustangs.

Morningside will take a 2-2 record into a 7 p.m. match against Dordt on Tuesday in Sioux Center.

MORNINGSIDE 3, GRACELAND 2: Morningside rallied from a from a set deficit to down Graceland in five 25-21, 17-25, 23-25, 27-25, 15-9 at the at the Grand View Molten Invitational in Des Moines Friday.

The Mustangs improved their attack percentage each of the final two sets after struggling to just .095 in the third set.

Oscar Alarez Cancel led the way for the Mustangs with 19 kills while Jackson Presha added nine. Caden Toben dished out 44 assists and Jacob Loberg had 14 digs.

Graceland had four players in double figure kills led by Keone Coronado's 12 and both Naone Passi and Brandon Kampshoff had 11 apiece.

Late Thursday

BENEDICTINE-MESA 3, MORNINGSIDE 0: Setter Jaron Jones contributed 30 assists, one solo block, two solo blocks and an ace serve while helping Benedictine-Mesa to a 25-20, 25-18, 25-22 sweep over Morningside Thursday at the Grand View Molten Invitational.

Oscar Alarez Cancel provided team-highs of 13 kills and eight digs for Morningside. Setter Caden Toben had 31 assists and an ace serve while Jimmy Aschenbrenner led the way with three block assists.
