SIOUX CITY | The Morningside volleyball team opened up the 2018 season with a dominating three-set win over Graceland here Saturday.
The Mustangs picked up the 25-23, 25-19, 25-14 victory behind 14 kills from Oscar Alarez Cancel and nine from Jackson Presha. Caden Toben had 28 assists and Jacob Loberg had 11 digs.
The Mustangs had an attack percentage of .267 in the match while holding Graceland to .114.
Graceland (0-2) was paced by Jeminae Solomua and Matt Romero who both had six kills.
BRIAR CLIFF 3, GRACELAND 0: Briar Cliff dominated Graceland on its way to the 25-15, 25-17, 25-17 season-opening victory Saturday.
Peyton Schirman led the Chargers with eight kills. Jacob Ewart paced the team in assists with 19 and Enrique Barajas was next with 17 helpers. Trifunovic was the top defender with eight digs.
Graceland's (0-3) Brandon Kampshoff was the biggest offensive threat with five kills.
Briar Cliff held Graceland to an attacking percentage of .039 while the Chargers hit at a .411 clip.
