STORM LAKE, Iowa | Morningside finished fifth and Briar Cliff 10th at the Buena Vista Open Saturday. Iowa Central was the team champion.

Nick Madsen led Morningside with a fourth-place showing at 165. He dropped a 5-1 decision to Upper Iowa's Cody Nelson in the third-place match.

Morningside's Maren Cahill took fifth at 133 and Dustin Reed was sixth at 141. Joey Cannon won the 285 "B" bracket pinning Ellsworth's Patrick DePiazza in 4:23.

Brandon Meyer led the Briar Cliff finishers with a third-place effort at 157. He downed Minnesota State-Mankato's Logan Saltou 9-2 for third.

Sonny Guulesian took fifth for the Chargers at 141 as he downed Morningside's Dusten Reed 11-3, and Zac Funderburk took sixth at 149 for BC. Zach Davis was fifth at 165 as he downed Concordia's Kirk Kaliszewski 7-3 in the fifth-place match. Nathan Garcia also claimed fifth as he held off Ellsworth's Myron Craford 6-5.
