I have to admit, my taste for pumpkin spice seems to have died off.

And I think I know why. In 2014 and 2015, me and some Weekender taste tasters (aka my fellow reporters) indulged in all kinds of pumpkin-y treats. Soon after, we told ourselves that we would never do another pumpkin spice taste test.

We gave our palates a much needed break. But as we shuffled through fall-themed story ideas, the inevitable pumpkin spice taste test was brought up yet again.

I gave it some thought, but ultimately decided against it. Truthfully, this year would have been a good time to do it. Upon frequent visits to local supermarkets, we were overwhelmed by the amount of pumpkin-flavored foods available for purchase. I probably could have stacked an entire shopping cart of pumpkin spice eats.

But luckily that didn't happen. We were reminded of the awful things we had to eat in the past. Some of which still make us gag.

Here are some of the worst pumpkin spice foods we've ever tasted:

Jell-O Pumpkin Pie Cheesecake Snacks

How does it taste: The spongy texture left us wondering what it really is. The pudding/Jell-O hybrid might look like pumpkin pie filling but it sure as hell doesn’t taste like it. The cheesecake element only shows up as a bitter aftertaste once you’ve managed to swallow that muck in a cup. It’s funky.

Our grade: D

Today's thoughts: I don't think I've ever thrown something in the garbage so fast before. Texture, taste, presentation -- it was all bad.

Chobani Greek Yogurt Pumpkin Spice

How does it taste: As far as Greek yogurt goes, Chobani is one of the best. But the blended pumpkin flavored Grecian snack left us wanting more of that previous Jell-O pie/cheesecake cup. The bitter yogurt and sharp pumpkin spices don’t mix well.

Our grade: D-

Today's thoughts: As soon as the yogurt touched our tongues, we immediately spat it out. Imagine a bad pumpkin pie served with a dollop of expired sour cream. That's what this tasted like.

M&Ms -- Pumpkins Spice Latte

How does it taste: Most of us could devour a handful of regular or peanut M&Ms, but when it comes to its pumpkin spice variant, we will most definitely pass every time. Each bite got progressively worse until we found ourselves giving the whole bag to someone else to suffer through.

Our grade: D

Today's thoughts: Despite the awfulness of the Pumpkin Spice Latte M&Ms, at least they're not as bad as the Candy Corn M&Ms. Still nasty though.

Peeps -- Pumpkins Spice

How does it taste: OK, we definitely have a few cavities after this treat. Some of our taste testers flat out refused to try these, and we don’t blame them. There’s nothing to taste but bursts of pure sugar. Our dental bills are going to get out of hand after these eats.

Our grade: F

Today's thoughts: Peeps are already bad enough, but they had to go and make things worse by adding pumpkin spice. We despised these fluffy little bastards. We struggled to come up with one redeeming quality. It's been two years and we still can't think of one nice thing to say about Pumpkin Spice Peeps.
