3. Making a ‘Case’ for country
In 10 years’ time, Casey Donahew has grown from being a crowd favorite in the Texas music scene to a national touring act. He’s managed to rack up 12 No. 1 singles throughout his career. The guy has certainly made a name for himself, so you best bet he’s got an excellent show planned for Siouxlanders at 8 p.m. Friday (Jan. 12) at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Sioux City. Opening for Donahew is Wade Bowen.
4. Love story
Shot in the Dark Production’s latest musical explores a couple’s relationship at various points in their life. Jamie and Cathy are the two characters “The Last Five Years” focuses on. Cathy’s story is told in reverse chronological order while Jamie’s is told in chronological order. “The Last Five Years” opens at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday (Jan. 12 & 13) and 7 p.m. Sunday (Jan. 14) at the Evelyn Larson Theatre.
5. Ladies night
Two Shakespearean actors, who are currently performing the theater circuit in Amish country in Pennsylvania, try to pass themselves off as the long lost English nephews of a terminally ill old woman in order to gain her fortune. But then the actors are thrown a curveball when they realize those long lost nephews are actually long lost nieces. It’s a wacky and crazy show at Sioux City Community Theatre. See the performances at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday (Jan. 12 & 13).
6. Back in Black
Name another rock band as distinct as AC/DC. You always know when you’re listening to an AC/DC song. But can you discern the distinction between the iconic rock group and the tribute band Back in Black? Hopefully not. That’s kind of the point of a tribute band. This group brings an exciting and high energy show that must be seen. Watch Back in Black at 8 p.m. Saturday (Jan. 13) at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Sioux City.
