1. Fear!

Will you escape the horror? You’ll have to find out for yourself when you venture into the Fear Factory. There’s no better time to face your fears. The haunted house on Historic Fourth Street features a wide variety of monsters, ghouls and spooky settings to really scare the bejeezus out of you. Bring your friends and explore the factory together. After all, it is better to scream with friends than by yourself. The Fear Factory opens at 6:30 p.m. Friday-Tuesday (Oct. 27-31) in downtown Sioux City.

2. Marq your calendars

It’s Halloween! Which means Siouxland’s bar patrons will likely be out on the town in full makeup and costume having a blast. Places like The Marquee have prepared for this by planning back-to-back Halloween events. The Monsters Ball begins at 8 p.m. Friday (Oct. 27) and features musical performances my Thick Mistress, GhostCat, Tapwater Shrimp and Calling Grace. At the same time Saturday (Oct. 28), the hip-hoppers DAD, HeatBox and Young Rambo are set to perform. Expect a Halloween costume contest with prizes given to “best costume” and “best couples costume.” Get ready to party.

3. In the Doxx

You didn’t think the Halloween parties ended at The Marquee, did you? We’re just getting started. Doxx Warehouse Bar is throwing its own Halloween party at 9 p.m. Saturday (Oct. 28) inside the premises. As you might expect, there’s going to be a costume contest going on as well. Add that with the fun, party atmosphere of Doxx and you got yourself a night to remember. Well… maybe.

4. Fright Night Part 3

Right now you’re probably thinking to yourself, “Oh no! Not another bad sequel to a good horror movie!” Do not fret, dear reader. We’re merely referencing the Halloween party going on at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Sioux City. Local radio station Z98 presents the third annual Fright Night Halloween & Costume Party. That pretty much speaks for itself. The ‘90s tribute band The Lone Rangers will be the nights musical guests. Cash prizes will be awarded to the best costumes (best couple or group, best female and best male costumes). Be a part of the fun at 8 p.m. Saturday (Oct. 28) at Anthem.

5. Horror on Pearl Street

For those who would rather spend their evenings on the Pearl Street side of downtown Sioux City, we’d like to direct you to the Halloween Spooktacular and Costume Contest. This party has some pretty sweet giveaways and prizes (like a 55-inch TV) to the best and most creative costumes. The contest of which will be held onstage inside Pearl’s Wine & Booze. Expect spooky drink specials, too! The part begins early at 5 p.m. Saturday (Oct. 28) at the Pearl Street bars.

6. Something to ‘taco’ about

Wanna be bowled over by some terrific young athletes?  An all-you-can-eat taco bar has been set up to pay travel expenses for the Team Iowa Special Olympics Unified Bowling Team as they prepare to participate in the USA Special Olympics Bowling Tournament in Seattle in July 2018. The benefit will take place from 5-8 p.m. Sunday (Oct. 29) at Rudy Navarette’s Mexican Restaurant, 2421 Riverside Blvd. Tickets are $10 per person and will go towards the Sioux City bowler/coaching team made up of Ann Newton, J.J. Reeg-Beckner, Ron Schmidt and Estrella Tejeda.
