DES MOINES, IOWA | Eleven Iowa breweries will contribute kegs of beer to an all-day “Brews for Texas” hurricane relief fundraiser at Court Avenue Restaurant & Brewery (CABCO) from noon to midnight on Thursday, Sept. 14.
“I had been thinking of ways to contribute to the Hurricane Harvey relief efforts in Texas, and landed on the idea of an all-Iowa tap takeover here at Court Avenue,” said CABCO head brewer Brian Vaughan. “It turns out that I wasn’t the only brewer looking to help.”
In less than two hours, more brewers than Vaughan could handle sought to participate. Vaughan added the first ten breweries to volunteer to donate to his CABCO offering, for a total of eleven donated beers raising money for flood victims throughout the day. The brewery will also hold a raffle of items donated from brewing industry members at 7 PM.
Additionally, Fat Hill Brewing of Mason City, Confluence Brewing of Des Moines, West O Beer of West Okoboji, Kalona Brewing of Kalona, Front Street Brewery of Davenport and Backpocket Brewing of Coralville will each be dedicating a portion of profits on Sept. 14 to hurricane relief efforts.
Breweries donating beer CABCO's fundraiser include Flix Brewhouse of Urbandale, SingleSpeed Brewing of Cedar Falls/Waterloo, NoCoast Beer of Oskaloosa, Fox Brewing and Barn Town Brewing of West Des Moines, Lake Time Brewery of Clear Lake, Reclaimed Rails of Bondurant, Lark Brewing of Waterloo, Iowa Brewing of Cedar Rapids, Firetrucker Brewery of Ankeny and Court Avenue Restaurant & Brewery of Des Moines.
