STORM LAKE, Iowa | A discussion about loud music turned into criminal mischief charges for two men staying at a hotel, police said.

Ricky Savell, 27, of Moselle, Mo., and Michael Nelson, 25, of Richton, Miss., are both charged with misdemeanor counts of third-degree criminal mischief and disorderly conduct.

Around 10:42 p.m. Tuesday police responded to the Budget Inn Motel, 1504 Lake Ave., for a disturbance call, Storm Lake police said in a statement.

Officers learned that Savell and Nelson had been asked twice to turn their music down and had become aggressive towards the reporting party, the release said.

During the argument Savell threw a chair through a window while Nelson destroyed a security camera in the hotel’s hallway, the release said.

Both men were arrested and bonded out of the Buena Vista County Jail Wednesday morning.

Property damage for the hotel is estimated to be $1,625.
