Try 3 months for $3

U.S. Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa, on Thursday repeated an assertion he first made in Northwest Iowa, earlier this month: with the change in marriage law following a groundbreaking U.S. Supreme Court ruling, marriage seems to only require one person, so "you can marry a lawmower."

King said that most recently when introducing Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee in Rockwell City, Iowa, journalist Matt Tiabbi reported.

The Supreme Court ruling on June 26 made gay marriage legal in all states. Conservatives have criticized that ruling.

When he was in Spirit Lake, Iowa, on July 1, the local newspaper recounted King saying the ruling was a troubling shift from the historical tradition of one man and one woman being in a marriage.

"I had a strong, Christian lawyer tell me yesterday that, under this decision that he has read, what it brings about is: It only requires one human being in this relationship -- that you could marry your lawnmower with this decision. I think he's right," King said.
