Kirk Hinrich, DeMarre Carroll

Chicago Bulls guard Kirk Hinrich drives against Atlanta Hawks forward DeMarre Carroll on June 28. As a boy, Hinrich tagged along with his dad, Jim, the head coach of the West High School boys team, soaking up knowledge and honing his emerging skills.

Dallas Maverick Dirk Nowitzki had to do a little explaining after calling a foul by the Chicago Bulls guard and former Sioux City West standout Kirk Hinrich "one of the dumber fouls I've ever seen."

Nowitzki seemed to just choose his words poorly, but to my way of thinking never meant it as a shot at Hinrich. Hinrich knew it was a bad play on his part, but if you play in the NBA long enough things like this happen.

No matter what, it shows how well respected Hinrich is in Chicago as his teammates came to his defense in a hurry. Check out the article here.

Nice shout out to Sioux City.
