Journal Regulars columnist Jim Wharton of Sioux City takes you along on a 14-day bus trip to 10 different Major League Baseball stadiums and games this month.
June 11 Milwaukee, Wis.
Game 1 in the books. Brewers nip the Nationals 6-5.
I’m going to grade the games on certain criteria. Here we go:
Mark is my concession consultant and he excels in his field.
Concessions were lacking at Miller Park. When in Milwaukee, you have to have a brat. I placed my order and the brat was cold. I sent it back and they gave me one colder than the first. The third try felt like it came from the freezer. Got my money back and found another stand where they finally got it right.
Brat and an $8, 12-ounce brew and I’m down $15.
Concession grade D
Boo to the grouchy lady in section 125 who gave us the boot when we tried to move one section over to get a little more room
Customer service grade C
It’s rained ever since we left Sioux City and it’s raining in Milwaukee. Note to Brewers: Your roof leaks and it leaked on section 126 – row 17.
Stadium Experience grade C
MY PERSONAL GAME HIGHLIGHT
Two of them.
In addition To "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" at the seventh-inning stretch, they sing and dance to “Roll out the Barrel" – polka time.
And of course, what made Milwaukee famous - the sausage race.
Italian sausage won by four “links” over Kielbasa.
OVERALL MIWAUKEE EXPERIENCE C
Off to Detroit tomorrow.
