IOWA CITY – On Jan. 11, Qneo, a Sioux City-based startup, expanded to Iowa City, making it the company's second location.
Qneo is a free-to-download mobile coupon app that has helped local businesses reach local customers in Siouxland since 2016. Now, the company will be doing the same in Iowa City.
Qneo founder Lloyd Lee, who graduated from the University of Iowa in 2009, is excited for the expansion.
“Since forming the company in 2015, it’s always been my intention to take it to Iowa City," he said. "Like Sioux City, there are so many unique small businesses there and the community is so receptive to new ideas.”
Qneo is currently working with 16 local Iowa City businesses and, just like in Sioux City, it sends out a bundle of special offers from different businesses every day.
The company added new team member Ryan Espinoza, a native Siouxlander who has been living in Iowa City for the past 10 years, to help run operations in Iowa City. Espinoza oversees new business contacts and played a vital role in the expansion.
