Fleet Farm begins hiring 150+ for new Sioux City store

SIOUX CITY -- Fleet Farm on Thursday began interviewing candidates for more than 150 full- and part-time positions at the retail chain's first Sioux City store.

The 218,000-square-foot store, under construction in Sunnybrook Village, is projected to open in August. The majority of the new Sioux City jobs are customer service associates who will staff a variety of departments. In a news release, company officials said the positions are "just the right career opportunity'' for those with an interest in home improvement, fishing, hunting, crafting, pets, cars or farming.

“Our goal is to hire a strong team of customer-focused employees,” Tamika Parks, human resources business partner, said in the release. "While candidates with retail experience are great, interest in the types of products we carry at Fleet Farm goes a long way."

In addition to the sales floor, the store also is hiring for specialty roles in its automotive service center.

Due to applicant volume, candidates are encouraged to complete the short, 7-minute online application at or by texting ‘SIOUXCITY’ to 86516, according to the company. Those selected for in-person interview will be notified by email.

In addition to a "competitive" wage and benefits package, Fleet Farm employees will receive a "generous" employee discount, the release said.

"We chose to build in Sioux City because we knew there was a great, local talent pool,” Jon Kollman, store manager, said. "I am ready to get the right team in place and bring our breadth and depth of Fleet Farm products to Sioux City."

The store will anchor the 64-acre shopping center under construction near the intersection of Sunnybrook Drive and Sergeant Road. It will stock apparel, sporting goods, pet supplies, auto supplies, lawn and garden equipment, farm supplies, home furnishings, candy and snacks and other items.

The store's exterior design will feature Fleet Farm's signature orange silo, which is also visible in the background of the company's logo.

The Brainerd, Minnesota-based regional chain, founded in 1955, operates 37 stores in North Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Iowa. The current Iowa stores are in Ankeny and Mason City.
