"Three thoughts on climate change: it’s real, it matters, and there's hope.” ~ John Helms

John Helms teaches chemistry and environmental science at Morningside College, and has studied Analytical/Environmental Chemistry, Oceanography, and Biogeochemistry at Old Dominion University (on the coast of Virginia). Though not a climate scientist, he has had an intense focus on the global carbon cycle. His research includes studying the color of the ocean using satellites, characterizing the molecules that make swamp water brown, and investigating how increased ethanol production is impacting the amount of ethanol in Iowa snow.
