Look back: Sioux City women in sports

With help from the Sioux City Museum, we took a look into the archives and found some interesting articles and photos about the role local women have played in sports.

Jennie Jones

Miss Jones, who is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L.H. Jones, 2932 Jackson street, won the state golf championship for women Friday morning at Des Moines. Her play was brilliant throughout and was decalred by experts to be on a par with that of many of the men. Miss Jones when in Sioux City plays on the County club links. She went to Des Moines some time before the tournament to become accustomed to the course.

Judy Kimball

Judy Kimball is a young Sioux City professional golfer. Miss Kimball won the Women's "All-American" Open championship in 1961 and was formerly women's amateur champion of the state of Iowa.
