SIOUX CITY | The Bishop Heelan wrestling team went 5-0 and won the Heelan duals here Saturday.
Heelan defeated Sioux Falls Lincoln (63-18), Columbus (40-25), Lewis Central (37-29) and Le Mars (53-18) in pool play. The Crusaders then beat Lincoln East 42-30 in the championship match.
Kobe Clayborne (285) went 5-0, winning all five matches by fall. Frank Vondrak (152) went 5-0 with two pins and Shyler Langley (195) also went 5-0.
Brennan Todd (138) and Caleb Engel (182) both went 4-1 with three pins. Mitchell Joines (126) and Diego Samaniego (220) went 4-1 with two pins. Luke Martin (160) went 4-1 with one pin.
Heelan is 38-2 in duals this season.
Le Mars went 2-3 and placed seventh. Le Mars lost to Lewis Central (49-21), lost to Columbus (45-36), defeated Lincoln (49-20) and lost to Heelan. Le Mars defeated South Sioux 66-18 in the seventh-place match.
Jake Francksen-Small (132) and Travis Theisen (220) both went 5-0 with two pins for the Bulldogs. Jacob Singer (138) went 3-2 with three pins. Dylan Carlson (145) and Brennick Hoppe (285) both went 3-2 with two pins.
South Sioux City went 1-4 and placed eighth. South Sioux lost to Norfolk (72-10), defeated Sioux City West (36-30), lost to Lincoln East (72-6) and lost to Logan-Magnolia (60-21). South Sioux lost to Le Mars in the seventh-place match.
Izzy Miranda (126) went 4-1 for South Sioux and had two pins. Axel Hernandez (120) and Jacob Ngeleka (285) both went 3-2 with three pins. Marcos Rodriguez (132) went 3-2 with one pin.
West went 0-5 and placed 10th. The Wolverines lost to Lincoln East (69-6), Logan-Magnolia (84-0) and Norfolk (84-0). In the ninth place match, West fell to Sioux Falls Lincoln 62-17.
Sean Gisel went 3-2 for West and notched one pin. Austin Dicks (138) had two pins for West.
