DES MOINES, Iowa | Des Moines Roosevelt scored three touchdowns in the opening quarter and didn't look back as it went on to win a Class 4A District 1 football match up with Sioux City North 34-6 Friday.
Quarterback Sam Knoschaug threw a pair of touchdown passes including a 55-yard strike to Davion Houston just over two minutes into the game to put Roosevelt up 7-0. Knoschaug also added a 10-yard pass to Landon Ingle for a score 2:06 before the intermission to give his team a 28-0 halftime lead. Drekar Jackman also ran for two touchdowns and had 139 yards for the game.
The Stars got on the scoreboard with 6:04 left in the game when Jayse Martineck ran 22 yards for a touchdown to cap and 11 play, 77-yard drive.
The Rough Riders got their first District win of their campaign and leveled their overall record at 4-4 while the Stars dropped to 0-8.
North closes its season next Thursday when it hosts No. 7 Waukee.
