SOUTH SIOUX CITY | Former "Survivor: Nicaragua" contestant Holly Hoffman spoke to several hundred supporters of the Go Red For Women luncheon Friday, encouraging them to step out of their comfort zone.
Survivors of heart disease, she said, have to do just that as they battle back to health.
Hoffman, a native of Eureka, S.D., finished in the reality show's Final Four. She said she wanted to quit several times but gutted it out and, now, is glad she saw it through. She speaks frequently at Go Red events, which are held to benefit the American Heart Association. Friday's event at the Marina Inn Conference Center was her 21st for the nonprofit organization.
Also speaking were Contessa Siders and Kelli Harris, two women affected by stroke and heart disease. Hoffman called them the "true survivors."
